There are many aspects to caring for chinchillas.  From what housing is best, to how to feed to knowing what potential health issues could arise.

Please research all of these carefully prior to bringing a chin home.

And please, find a knowledgeable vet who can care for your chin in the event of an emergency prior to bringing a chin home.  Finding a knowledgeable vet can be really tough, being in the middle of a crisis only makes it harder.

One important thing to remember is that chins are very social creatures.  They really do best with a friend.  It does not have to be a friend of the opposite sex, in fact, same sex pairs usually get along much better.  As long as you are careful about introductions, and do those properly, your chin will be much happier with a buddy!

To learn more about each of these issues, please check the links to the left.
