We designed these to be installed very taught in a cage.  This is to avoid injury to a chin trying to jump out of a loose hanging hammock.  The "straps" are also very wide, so legs won't get caught. 

Since the material is fleece, they will not fray.  And all thread is on the inside, where chins can't get to it.

 

 

As you can see, we always install these so that they aren't too high from a shelf.  What you don't see in this picture is that there is a shelf on each side that a chin would try to climb out from. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here is one of our babies enjoying his hammock.  We actually have two large chins who sleep in their hammock together.

Notice that when the chin is in the hammock, there is some give, but if you imagine the picture above, this makes for less of a "step down" for the chin when he is ready to get out.

 

 

 

 

This is how the hammocks are attached in our cages.  There is an open grommet at each corner, and we screw the hammock to the top of the cage.

For wire cages, you would simply put a clasp through the grommet and attach it that way.
